Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant

This pit mix was found as a stray; she looks like she may have had pups. She definitely does not like cats but seems OK with dogs here at the shelter. Very stocky and muscular build, we are guessing she is maybe 4-5 years old. Affectionate and happy to be off the streets! We are a small shelter located in rural PA; closest city is Pittsburgh. Please Map It before you contact us. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to arrange transport. We require a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home, check references, and need to meet the prospective adopters.

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-02-00032'Kind Soul' (female)

Bull Terrier Mix

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Submissive
Health: Abused/Neglected

This beautiful girl is an absolute doll. My son saw her wondering the streets, he opened his car door, and she hopped right in. He asked me what to do, so I had him bring her over and grab her some food. I was shocked at the condition of this dog for being so close to home. The poor girl was emaciated, had sores, bad skin, long nails, dirty teeth, and she looked like she hadn't had a bath or food in months. Despite all of this, she allowed me to fully handle her while she was eating-i put my hand in the bowl and all. After some food,a bath, and some quality time, they contacted animal control as was advised, aco picked her up, and took her to ... (Read More)the local shelter. The problem is, since she had what appeared to be bite marks on her, is set to be euthanized unless pulled by a rescue than can keep her seperate from other animals for a 'rabies quarantine' period of 6 months. I am beside myself right now. We thought we were helping her. Please help, she's too sweet to go out like that. (Less)

Animal ID: 16-08-24-00304Viper (male)

Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Viper is very loving dog. I have only had him for 6 months. I rescued him from a home that neglected him. He was confined to a small kitchen area that he had no exposer to the outside. he took to me right away but took time to get used to other adults and children. I have exposed him to other dogs and does good. he does well with young kids. Very close to my grandson which is 11 years old. it takes a few times of meeting an adult to trust them. Has never attacked anyone. He truly is a very smart dog. I cannot keep him because of my health issues and would love for him to go to someone who will give him a lot of love and attention like I do.
